PG Cert/PG Dip Project Management

By way of introduction: I am a serving soldiers planning a medium term exit strategy from the military, I have 17 years experience, with increasing areas of responsibility. I plan on entering the Project Management sector as a second career, I have heard and read about the various associated qualifications related to PM. However I am looking to gain some insight into Post Graduate study in PM. Basically, I have learning credits which will cover the cost of a Pg Cert PM. Is this worth doing? Or would I be better of sticking with the standard industry qualifications?
