How to gain experience in Project Management?

I have learned Oracle Primavera P6 and am looking to gain experience in the project manager/planner role? I am really frustrated because I am willing to work for free and shadow someone who has experience that I can learn from. I have emailed many companies asking to shadow someone all with no success. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
