Howdy,

I was hoping to get some other PM's opinions on here about something I've been offered to do. I have been offered to do a degree in Project Management. I was wondering if this would give me an advantage at getting a job or possibly even be a disadvantage because a lot of other PM's seem to have degrees in another field then specialise later on, should I go for this degree or should I try and specialise later on as well?

Thanks for your time.

Project management methodologies are widely recognized and used worldwide. Its roots date back as early as the 1950s to organize and plan all stages of engineering projects systematically. The methodology is now used in a variety of disciplines to ensure many different types of business projects are completed on-time and within their designated financial budgets. Project management degrees are available through different venues depending upon the institution offering the degree. Some institutions offer a Master of Business Administration with a specialization in project management. These programs offer students a broad base of management training, as well as focused project management knowledge.

On the other hand, if students have already received a good deal of training and education in general management, it may better suit them to pursue one of the more specialized project management Master’s programs available.
