Hi there,

If anyone can recommend any books, then please do so. I am looking at starting a PM course but would like to be some prior reading. Any book which will provide a good foundation knowledge would help... Any ideas? Thank you.

A great book for beginners is Scrappy Project Management by Kimberly Wiefling. You can read my review here:

Thanks for that.

What do you think of this book, Project Management for Dummies (see below link)? I just want a book which will give a 'noob' a basic understanding of PM'ing.

Hi there

You might also find Starting Out in Project Management helpful. It's written in plain English, and has a nice pace with lots of case studies, exercises and examples to help cement the concepts.

I haven't read the 'for Dummies' one am afraid so can't shed any light on that.

All the best,

Esther

Another book that gives you all the basics is Brilliant Project Management by Stephen Barker and Rob Cole. Seems to be very popular.

Have a look at this list for more books:

Hope this helps.
