Hi All,
I am currently Prince2 Foundation certified and looking to further expand my knowledge and job prospects (internationally if possible should the opportunity arise). I would like to know if moving forward with prince2 Practitioner skills and certification is still in demand in the job market or has PMP become the de facto and the most sort after for project management roles.
I would appreciate your help and advice moving forward before making a choice.
Many thanks in advance.

Regards
Jay

Hi Jay,

Both qualifications are valuable and it's difficult to say one is better than the other. Having said that, PMP is more difficult to obtain than PRINCE2 Practitioner, because of the depth of knowledge and hours of project management experience needed. In those terms I value it more highly. You may also consider CAPM, another PMI qualification that certifies project team members.

If you don't have the require hours of experience yet, my advice would be to go for PRINCE2 Practitioner and work your way towards the PMP as you build up your experience.

I've done both and I'm most proud of obtaining my PMP.

You can read more about CAPM and PMP here:

Hope this helps you decide.

Hi Duncan,

Many thanks for your advice. I was told the same about PMP as it requires more knowledge hence not really a walk in the park to obtain. I will follow your advice moving forward on this.

Thanks once again.

Jay
