I have a couple of best practices to suggest:
  1. Often, we are working in virtual project teams across the globe. Utilise different time zones to meet objectives. For example, I use the time difference between India and the UK to my advantage. Getting software upgrades carried out during India's morning helps avoid disruption to my mostly European user base.
  2. Keep your business analyst by your side to not only help define customer requirements but to help solve problems and give customer support. A good business analyst can not only save you time but increase customer satisfaction.
