Is there any tool available for project management? If yes then what would you prefer?

Hi maniksharma,

My preferred tool is Microsoft Project. I also make extensive use of Excel spreadsheets for budgeting.

My company uses the Clarity Project Portfolio Management solution from CA Technologies for management of projects across the organsaition.

Hi Duncan,

I generally use Excel and Project but my firm are looking into new PM Software, any tips of what is good on the market?

Is Clarity Project Portfolio Management any good?

Recently, I went to a seminar about a PM software product created by AtTask, have you heard of them? Seemed quite promising as one of the most frustrating things I find about being a PM is the admin work.

Regards

John

We use Eylean Board at our company. It is quite flexible and has a variety of features we were looking on. The biggest plus for me is easy and fast task management.

Clarity PPM helps with full project and programme administration and approval. It contains our project documentation, budgets, approvals and project status updates.

It is a high-end solution aimed at organisations managing significant project budgets and needing to manage their portfolio to maximise return on investment.

Most of our PMs use Microsoft Project for the task-level management. They also hate the admin work. I usually have to chase them for their monthly status reports.

There are plenty of project management tools available outside. I use Apptivo for project management. Before picking up this tool I took a trial plan of this tool to check app flows, features and pricing. Afterwards, I fully converted into it. They recently updated projects latest version. It's a pretty good design and ideal to use.

There are many tools available online for project management. I have used many tools, but these days I am using Taskque. It's a pretty awesome tool. Best thing about Taskque is that it allows third parties to participate in discussions. Hence, if you are working for client projects then Taskque will be the best fit for you.
