Returning to Project Management After a Break

Hi All,

I've been away from project management (IT deployment) for six or seven years and had a couple of completely diverse jobs since then, latterly working in Microbiology! However, I think I still have the energy and desire to get back to the daily buzz of PM although I'm wondering if I should look for junior PM or PMO jobs initially to build up my experience again. I qualified to PRINCE2 Practitioner level and am quite happy to re-sit the exam if necessary but I would be grateful for any advice or guidance from forum members on what has changed, what to expect/look out for etc.

Thanks,
Jim.

Hi Jim,

What type of PM industry (construction, IT, engineering etc) are you looking at getting into? Also, are you looking at project support or delivery?

Like you mention, a PMO role (supporting PMs) may be easier to get into as you don't have recent experience of delivering projects.

Thanks,
Kit
