Hi everyone

I am hoping you can help me out here, I am looking for a cost effective piece of project management software which will run both on Macs and PC's. I need the basics of PM software (gantt charts, resourcing, dependencies etc) but I want to find something that is cheap and easy to use, nothing too overboard!

Hi,

In my company we use VMproject (http://vm-project.com). This software is quite easy to use and powerful.

The price is not too high.

Hi Ash,

I can't look past Microsoft Project and the new 2013 version looks great. I particularly like that it has Burndown charts showing planned work, completed work and remaining work.

I wouldn't call it cheap, but having used plenty of cheaper tools, I still find myself coming back to it. Not seen anything better yet.

If Microsoft Project is too expensive, look at Open Workbench. It's a good substitute and free. I think they are still around, you can certainly get a download.

Hi,

You can go for a web based project management software which runs on both PCs and MAC. I use myself ProofHub as it runs on my PC, mobile as well as on my tablet easily. It has also got features like gantt chart, to-do list, milestones, proofing tool, etc. which fulfill my need.

Hey,

Have you looked into AffinityLive? I've heard that it's pretty good for project management and has the status and progressions that you are after, as well as the dashboard. Pretty sure that it does the reporting too.

Many kinds of project management tools are too difficult to use. We've started using Easy Projects and it's very convenient and easy to use. There are different payment plans, and you can first check out the free trial version to see if it works nicely for you!

If you want PM software that will run on both then you're going to want to go with a web-based solution. Most are fairly low cost, some are free, and nearly all will at least give you a 15 day or 30 day free trial.

Several providers are listed on these pages so you can check them out, do comparisons, etc... I have personally work with several of these vendors so I'm going to refrain from making a specific recommendation...

I hope this helps... Good luck!
