Re: Define project management in one word
My one word is 'delivery' . Project management is about delivering on time, budget and to the expected level of quality. I would go as far to say that stakeholders don't care how you get there as long as you deliver a successful project. Assuming it's not unethical or illegal. Kit, to your point ab...

Define project management in one word
Accountability I am a big Fan of the RACI (responsibilities matrix) tool and this defines who 'the buck stops with' for each work package, the accountability for its completion. As long as the Accountability for the work package is with the most appropriate party, and the role communicated to them ...

Re: New Project Manager
Agile is definitely the new buzz word in the industry. I also see this being a certification for the future as it has gained a lot of support from the PM community.
Correct me if I am wrong, but Agile is most suited to Software Development projects, correct?
Thanks,
Kit

Re: Project Management Assignment?
Hi there, Great question. I see this as a mini project (R&D) within a program. The output from your project is the approved lighting control system design for the next project to actually turn the design into the product. You want to start with requirements definition. What functions/features do...

Hello,
We follow this process at work, but instead use MS Outlook and book it in the calendar there.
Thanks,
Kit

Re: APMP: The APM Project Management Qualification
Hi Fran, Thank you. I did the Prince2 version of the APMP as I was already a Prince2 Practitioner. The Prince2 route is a 2 hour written exam, not a 3 hour like the normal route. The cut down Prince2 syllabus is below: http://www.apm.org.uk/sites/default/files/protected/APMP%20for%20PRINCE2%20BoK6%2...

Re: Earned Value Method
Hi,
I am going to say yes; assuming that the value actually earned is equal to the planned value. This means you are bang on target and on track to hit BAC (Budget At Completion) as projected.
Also, I not know what week is (semana) in Spanish!
Thanks,
Kit

Re: Help!
Hi, Can the template by hosted on a network drive (or Google Docs) for all to access? As a lot of PM's are required to report on progress the template needs to be clear and unabiguous. A one off meeting to dicuss the template and how to complete it might be required. I suggest the below: Design the ...

Re: Career move to Project Management - some questions
Hi,
No problems at all.
If you go for Prince2, then Dave Litten's Prince2 primer videos are downloadable, cheap and very good. I have personally used them and can validate that they are worth the money. This will allow you to learn distantly.
All the best,
Kit.
