Re: Who Would Be the Right Professional to Do Accurate Cost Estimate for Software Projects?

That's a tricky dilemma. If you're doing software projects that have never been done before then its very difficult to get correct estimates other than using SMEs since you have no analogous data to go by. I'm going to assume you want better estimates in order to bid for contracts and not get burned...

Re: New to Project Management and seeking advice

Cbenton: You've already demonstrated value by doing what they asked you to do and finding and recommending software for the project managers. Re: Moving into project management whilst utilising skills...

Hi Louis. First off, to answer your question I personally from my experience (note I'm in Toronto, Canada) don't think that its that simple in the sense that having Prince2 is going to open doors for you and get you a PM job. I just went job hunting recently and found another PM job (note: I was a P...

Re: Project Management Software

We actually use plain old Microsoft Excel. Sometimes MS Project is just overkill, and a simple Excel spreadsheet is all you need to track the work tasks and progress. Our PMO has created an Excel template that we use as our WBS and personally I prefer that over using MS Project as its less work to k...
