Re: PRINCE2 - Studying and Preparing for Practitioner Exam

Topbanana there are 2 practice exams on the apmg website. Am not going to give the link out, part of learning Prince2 is using initiative to find things like this yourself ;) One is a calendar project and another is a restructuring project. How are you studying for these exams? A good study guide ca...

Re: Request for help with a new project

I'd certainly chair a comprehensive risk workshop to identify as many potential risks as possible. With appropriate risk response types considered too. New ideas may bring positive change to the organisation but are laden with risks. It may be that you decide to avoid parts of the framework as the r...

Re: Request for help with a new project

Hi SacktheGaff Slightly concerned as to the fact they have given you what on paper seems to be quite an important project/change to undertake and that by your own admittance is a task that you aren't familiar with. Maybe your username is a clue as to how you feel about this! Just out of interest are...

Re: Project Success Starts at the Interview – The Key Factors

I believe there's one word that is used to describe a major quality that you are looking for in this kind of role:

Initiative.

Those blessed with this quality are always useful to have in many project based scenarios. In my opinion.

Advice for PRINCE2 Practitioner Candidates

As there seems to be a fair amount of interest in the PRINCE2 accreditation, just thought I'd share my experience of studying and passing the PRINCE2 Practitioner exam. Just to make this clear, I am giving advice on how to learn to apply PRINCE2, not on how to become a PM. Given the fact passing Fou...

Re: I have just passed my Prince2 foundation and would like to progress into PM work

I'd definitely suggest taking the Practitioner exam next. Preferably whilst your mind is still fresh with foundation material.

Foundation is what is says it is. A solid foundation to get you ready for Practitioner level training.

Good luck.

Re: Moving into project management whilst utilising skills...

Hi Sounds like you have a decent enough grounding for a move to Project Management. Good luck with you Prince2 Foundation and Practitioner. You could initially consider a role as Project Support/Assistant PM? That way you will gain some experience of the PM environment whilst not being exposed to th...

Re: Prince 2 Foundation certification syllabus

Purchase the publication that I recommended above. The entire book is geared towards preparing you for both exams. It even goes into detail about what chapters are relevant for Foundation. Wouldn't recommend only going through the Official Manual. Its very dry and does not contain any simulated test...

Re: Prince 2 Foundation certification syllabus

Would recommend 'Prince2 Study Guide' by David Hinde. This is more than enough to prepare you for the foundation exam. Includes self assessments, past papers and some extra online resources to assist you.

Also has some Practitioner level material too.

Re: I don't think I want to be a PM

I'd say most people start off in a technical based role and make a transition into project management in their mid 30's to mid 40's. That's just speaking from experience using friends and colleagues as an example. And it only includes IT project management too. Most usually feel 'too old' to be doin...
