Re: Software Product Delivery Plan for an Agile project

I work with an offshore team managing software development projects. The most effective tool I've found for collaborative working is Skype for Business.

Re: What do you think about instinctive managers?

As human beings, we aren't as rational as we think we are. We all rely on instinct when making decisions or are, at least influenced by it. Bearing in mind that we seldom have exhaustive data available when making decisions, there is usually some element of instinct. However, it needs to be balanced...

Re: Project Management in Healthcare

Hiya,

You might find Five Steps to a Winning Project Team a useful article. The authors tee it up as project management in a healthcare setting, but then give a best practice guide applicable to many types of organisation, including healthcare.

Re: Which are the best learning resources to prepare for PMP exam?

I'll start with a favorite resource that gets good reviews regularly, PMP Exam Prep: Accelerated Learning to Pass PMIs PMP Exam by Rita Mulcahy. I believe the eighth edition is the latest and the one to buy. An earlier version was my textbook for the PMP. I found the book excellent, easy to read, la...

Re: Right Project Managment Course for a Marketer

The PMP is a highly respected certification, but it can take up to three years to obtain this qualification. I have taken both PMP and PRINCE2 and find they compliment each other. It depends on your personal circumstances which are right for you. For me, I started with PRINCE2, passing after home st...

Re: Right Project Managment Course for a Marketer

No, it's not industry specific. Some people believe it's only for Information Technology projects, but the second revision specifically made the framework more generic and applicable to any project type. I personally know many different indusries using PRINCE2 so don't be put off if that's the way y...

Re: Right Project Managment Course for a Marketer

There are PM courses and webinars specifically aimed at people managing projects in the financial services sector. It's worth seeking some out and networking to find out which PM qualifications are most highly regarded. Think about complimentary skills and whether there is anything you can do to enh...

Re: Using Gut Feeling or Analytical Analysis?

It's surprising how often 'gut feeling' is right. I've worked with many successful managers and leaders who've based a lot of their decisions on intuition and have done very well. Some people seem to have the knack of instinctively making the right decision. Not to say some analytical analysis isn't...

Re: Right Project Managment Course for a Marketer

Hi Debjani,

It sounds like you already have relevant project management skills and experience. I'd suggest studying the industry sector in which you'd like to work to see which PM qualification is preferred and go for that.

Re: Have the Right Mindset for Your PMP Exam

Like you, I've seldom seen PMP as a stated requirement for project management roles in the UK. It's highly respected in the UK, but you can get as much CV value from APMP and PRINCE2. I'd suggest investigating Agile PM training. It's a growing area and a future trend gaining a lot of traction in the...
