Training Providers for MS Project 2013?

Hey guys, I've *never* had any form of IT training (all learnt on the job/from colleagues), however, I think some MS Project training woudl be useful. I can plod through myself and read some guides and I've got some course on Udemy, however, I think a dedicated couse would be helpful. We're not powe...

Re: PM + BA?

I think it's probably more likely we combine BA and QA to be honest, I don't think PM, BA and QA would be a sensible combo (based just on workload if nothing else). From what I gather this is a more traditional combo, we'll see...!

Re: PM + BA?

Indeed food for thought Kate, on a slight tangent how common is a hybrid of BA and QA? - i.e. would produce requirements and also testing.

Re: PM + BA?

Thanks Duncan, that's some interesting feedback there, we're contemplating a business analyst and we'll need to decide if it's an internal or external position. I think we'd probably be looking for someone with some track record and QA experience too - something I don't have. Not sure how easy it is...

Re: What is your Project Management Software tool of choice?

Our previous system didn't exist! I introduced Excel but quite quickly realised a few shortcomings. I tried a few different free bits and bobs and some web tools, I also dabbled in Project. Someone then said lets just buy Project! - So yeah, that's the tool of choice if you can call it that! At the ...

Re: Tracking Multiple Projects - Best Methods?

I learned Microsoft Project through both training and on the job experience. It is a daunting tool when you first start using it. Only last week our Programme Manager showed me a shortcut I didn't know, so there's always plenty to learn. If you can find somebody that knows Microsoft Project to help...

PM + BA?

Hey guys, We all know that in smaller companies some people end up wearing 'multiple hats' - some of these it turns out are actually quite common combinations, some most odd. I'm a part time project manager with no experience or qualifications in the field, just finding my feet and learning at the m...

Re: Tracking Multiple Projects - Best Methods?

Duncan, both of these responses are really helpful. I've tried a few different hashups in Excel, none of them seem to be perfect and they all have shortcomings, at one point I even sketched out an idea for an MS SQL database (I write SQL as my main job), but I thought that was over the top and re-in...

Tracking Multiple Projects - Best Methods?

Hey guys, I've been thrust into a PM role and I've been toying with the best way of managing things. The projects I'm managing all fall into the software development category, and with multiple developers there's never just one project to consider. At the moment we've got between 30-40 projects at d...
