Re: How do you know you're exceeding in your job role?

While I have your attention, I want to make a start on the portfolio, however I am unsure on how to set it out. I do electrification projects for network rail. Should I make it specific to that and list the disciplines e.g. overhead equipment, distribution, civils and signalling or should it be pure...

Re: How do you know you're exceeding in your job role?

Ultimately this is the goal. I've sat down and given this some thought. Set goals and action plans of how to progress. I have my electrical degree I am taking along with pm specific training I get sent on and I let my boss know I am looking to progress and ask for the roles and responsibilities abov...

Re: How do you know you're exceeding in your job role?

Thanks to the both of you! I do push for more works and roles hence the two contracts being put on me! I would say I do 6 out of 7 of the things you've listed which is a good start. I am always looking for ways to improve. I fall down on the group activities. Not that I don't have ideas I am just wo...

How do you know you're exceeding in your job role?

So I've been a project management assistant for a year now and I believe that I do a good job. I perform all tasks asked of me, but from time to time sit around with nothing to do. I've spoken to my boss about this and asked for more and as a result I am being given two of the smaller contracts to o...

Re: Workplace Banter

I agree in that its a fine line between and can easily go too far, but also that if morale is increased then it can serve to be a benefiting tool within the workplace. A team high on morale work better than a team in silence with no morale!

Workplace Banter

I believe it is essential for moral of the project team. We have two project teams in one building and the team over from us have a very friendly atmosphere and theres alot of banter (not sure on work productivity though). Now my team we sit and work the only sound is the keyboard keys! I think I am...

Ok, as some of you may know (because this is my no 1 stop for advise!) I've been in project management for around 7 months now as an assistant! I've learnt much and have aspirations for the big PM (in my company its assistant, scheme PM and then PM). The project I have been working on is changing an...

Book Recommendation Please!

Hello, Ok so I have the APM BoK and the Using PRINCE2 manual to get through so from that point of view I am set for the next few months. The next thing I want to turn to along side this is getting myself set for a leader role (currently the assistant to the PM's). I would like someone to recommend a...
