Re: Writing a CV for a Project Manager role

Hi Monday, I couldn't agree more, particularly with only having one chance to make a first good impression. A tip I give our apprentices and young people starting out, is to talk about the benefits delivered by projects on which they've worked. I advise them to add these same benefits to their CVs; ...

Re: How to Embed a Bespoke International Methodology and Framework

Hi Sarah, I've seen a similar situation where an organisation was mixing a traditional waterfall approach and an agile methodology. The management was insisting on a fully signed off requirements specification before the project started while the project manager wanted to run a Scrum style approach....

Re: Forming a composite Scrum team with multiple vendors

I see no reason why a Scrum team all need to come from one vendor. I work with teams split across multiple vendors with no problem. I have different vendors for UX web development and back-end development. The financials are managed with each vendor separately and confidentially. You need to think a...

Re: Which Project Phase is HyperCare?

Interesting question. Personally, I would have it as part of the project. I would include hypercare and stabilisation in the project plan and handover to the support team to complete the hypercare period before I closed the project.

Re: Project management software for personal use?

Take a look at Trello. I use the application for house renovation, personal task list and website development. It fits your description well and is free.

Re: Online PM Tools

Jonathan, our developers have adopted Slack rather than email for communicating. It helps ease communication with our back-end and front-end developers being in different locations. It's also a fun tool with some self-moderated and good humored developer banter. I suggest asking people to use multi ...

Re: Online PM Tools

I use a combination of Evernote, Trello and Excel for managing my projects. These work well as a low cost option and allow effective sharing between teams with members located in different countries.

Re: How to Avoid Spreading Confidential Information About Projects?

Hi Juliana, Definitely don't mention clients you've work with on the projects and stick to information that doesn't identify them. Most prospective employers will want to understand what skills you bring to the party and your level of competence. In addition, they will be interested to hear about th...

Re: PMP training provider in the UK

Hi Kutz,

Personally, I've found QA Training very good, although it is some time since my last course with them.

My colleague recently did his PRINCE2 training with Learning Tree and was very happy with the course.

Hope this helps.
